MICHEAL JORDAN BABY

2006-07-20 09:07:30 · answer #1 · answered by pepsikiss 5 · 0 1

Larry Bird is the greatest all around player of all time, followed closely by Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Oscar Robertson.

Michael Jordan, although the best player of the '90's, isn't in the same class as these guys. Everyone who says he is can't back it up with anything.

Larry Bird could score from anywhere, at anytime. He could rebound, and was probably the best passing forward of all time. But most importantly, he elevated the play of his teammates, which translated into wins. His Celtics would have probably won 10 championships, had they not played at the same time as Magic's Lakers and Dr. J's 76ers.

The overall level of talent was much greater in the 1980's than it was in the 90's, when there was 25% more teams. Jordan's Bulls would always get wiped out by Bird's Celtics!

not sure why I bothered answering this question...this one will never go away.

Michael Jordan electrified the game, caught everyones eye....prior to him Earvin magic Johnson, who happened to play in the day, that Larry Bird, Isaiah Thomas, Julius "dr j" Erving, Dominique Wilkins, etc, played, was really an incredible player. Yeah, Jordan played against most of those guys at the end of their careers, but, I'm still not sure that Magic Johnson wasn't better at the all around game. Remember he handled the ball, shot the ball, played center, and, foward all in one game, before, in leading his team to a title. He was truly a quarterback on the court. How can we forget, the big dipper, Wilt Chamberlain, he once scored 100 points in a game, he averaged 50 points per game in the 61/62 season. He clearly dominated the game during his day. If I was forced to pick one, eventhough, I saw more Jordan and Magic Johnson games live, the stats , the internet, and, ESPN greatest games all point to the 6'8 220 lb giant of a man, Wilt "the Big Dipper" Chamberlain. He blocked shots, he made shots, he blocked dunks, he slam dunked. He actually led the league in assist one year also, he averaged about 4 assists, 30 points, and, 22 rebounds a game for his career. The man was truly great! yeah...they all go down as great players, but, Wilt was beyond great, he was the greatest!

Difficult question. Depends of the era. Names like Wilt, Kareem, Bird, Doctor J, Magic, Russell, Micheal, Shaq, have been so good that just the one name and we know who I'm talking about. This is way a few years ago an official list was generated by the NBA listing the top 50 players of all time. Check out the website. It's really great.

Michael Jordan, no question. He was the greatest athlete in the game for a long time, but it was his drive to win, his competitiveness was what set him apart from all the other great players. He was always working to make himself a better shooter and defensive player, he could do it all.
