running always seems easier. but the easiest thing is usually the wrong thing to do. and the hardest thing is usually the right thing to do. its hard to face problems or situations especially when you're the one who's wrong. a marriage should always be worked on to the fullest. every option should be tried by each person 100% to save a marriage. unfortunately society doesnt take marriage seriously anymore. I think it's taken too lightly.

I think it depends on which side of the fence you are sitting on. I know just as many men that walk out on their wife and families as I do Women who walk out.
The question should have been "Why is it that people would rather run than fix their marriages"
Its sad but true all to many times ... its much easier to get a divorce than it is to work on the relationship. I think the divorce is made way too easy these days.

I think men and women both run too much. When you marry someone you should work hard at the relationship, and be their during through thick and thin. That's why it's marriage. If you want out, then just live together. Marriage should be till death. Your family now! You don't usually get tired of your mom and look for a new one. Your mom is your mom. Well, your husband or wife is your husband or wife.

This goes for both genders. We live in a society of quitters. No intentional insults to anyone. But we live in a fastfood/immediate satisfaction society. We would rather spit out what we don't like or what works rather than put any effort into something. And our laws reflect that. Like I've said here before, there are many wrong reasons why we get married. It begs the same wisdom to ask we could be getting divorces for the wrong reasons. Think about it.

I have ran a few times.... sorry to say that, was not ready, couldnt see my self with those with who i ran away... and until they ask did not realised they where not THE MAN !!! I have 4 engagment rings... but this is a few years ago now !!! I think when you get a bit older you know more what you want and so you can take better decision... i wouldnt run anymore as i do know what i want and what i dont want so would no longer go for a man i dont really want.

It all depends on why they are running. Maybe he was abusive or a cheat. Maybe he was hurting the kids. You have to know the situation before you ask a question like that skippy.

I think that often, women use separation as a ploy; not really wanting to run, but needing to know what the man will do if she pushed away. She needs to build her trust by shaking the man's trust. It is abusive, and she is often quite surprised when the man refuses to tolerate the abuse.
(Of course I'm speaking of relationships where the man is not abusive and she has no real reason to run.)
I don't think men do play this game. I think a real man will work on the relationship and sacrifice himself as long as he believes that he can better the life for his woman (and family).

I can't speak for all women but me, i had to grow up. I had to grow mentally. I had to stop thinking that my husband could read my mind. I'm now divorced myself but i don't regret a moment of the 5 years that i was married because i got the lesson, i grew and i know that i will love again. Know that it's easier to run than to stay, hurt, work it out and go on. But when you grow mentally and can be your mates best friend, that means honesty all the time not just when it's convienient, to be able to laugh and play and talk is what the best relationships are built on and they don't just build themselves, they require work.

I really think men and women can be guilty of this. As a lot of men are not willing to have marriage counselling this is a sensitive topic.
If you are talking from personal experience I am sorry.
