I'm starting my 4th year of college and I am currently a Management of Information Systems Major. The problem is that I have been having second thoughts on if I really want to do this as a career.

Other options I have considered are Marketing, General Business, and maybe even Management.

I like the idea of general business because it gives you a wide range of knowledge to use. On the other hand it doesn't specialize into any one area and I'm not really sure what kind of job oppurtunities would be available to me with it.

My concern is that you may not have explored all the career opportunities available in your current major. Before you start looking at other possibilities make sure you've given a good hard look at the careers available with a Management of Info Systems degree. Once you've done that then take a look at Business Administration, Management and Marketing (in that order). For example in Business Admin you learn what it takes to be a mover and shaker and policy maker in the business world. In business management you learn how to manage effectively ... in marketing you become an expert in the effective marketing/advertising of a product or service.

a million) Can/ will a employer degree make you a bill Gates or Steve Jobs? 2) did not the better administration of Chrysler Corp and widely used automobiles Corp have employer degrees? 3) did not the those that ran the Wall street companies (Goldman - Saks, etc) that had to be "bailed out" have stepped forward employer degrees? factor is, assuming that the people in #2 & #3 were not crooks playing the equipment, how did they cope with to "cope with" so poorly? would someone with a "degree in stepped forward Basket making" have finished worse. Is there any correlation between stepped forward employer degrees and being a helpful higher factor manager? Why do higher Managers get "Golden Parachutes"? in the adventure that they fail at dealing with a employer, why do they nonetheless get to leave with a truck load of money?

MIS is really taking off again - are you sure that's not what you want. Definitely don't do General Business - it's too....GENERAL. Get some specialty even if you end up not using it. When I am hiring people, I definitely hate seeing General Business. But just getting a business degree is good. Don't stress too much about the major.

If you go for business make sure it is International Business. That is a wider range and covers a more broad spectrum of business. Most of your larger companies do business on the world level so you need to have some basic knowledge of how things work outside of the U.S. and not be so insulated.

Marketing sounds good. Also, if you know accounting and finance, you minimize your chances of getting into financial scandals.
