oh, how wonderful!
i don't usually answer in this category, but for some reason i clicked on it and here you are! the first question in the section and you're asking about my old stomping grounds!

GOSH! i can't tell you how incredible PSU is!!!
i just had a baby shower and some of my girls from school drove in for it and we spent the night at a lounge just telling stories and remembering our good times in happy valley.

honestly, i don't care what your major is...go to penn state! it's a well-known school and most of the programs you find there are reputable. of course, if you're ivy league potential, then maybe you want to check into other schools, but if you're the average college student looking for a good school where you can get a great education and a lot of life lessons...well, get thyself to the shields buidling (registrar is there) ASAP!!!

go visit the campus and take a lion ambassador tour. you will get a glimpse of the campus, learn some of history of the school and basically find out if it gives you THAT feeling.
oh, and if you've never been to a Penn State football game...oh wow....are you in for a time!
oh, can we trade places just for a day or two???

honestly, i love my life, truly, i do....but, if i had the opportunity to go back in time just to have a few more days there with all my friends and be young and carefree....oh, i'd trade just about anything to do that.

o.k. here's awesome things about penn state:
-the creamery (best ice cream on earth)
-football games (i could die on the 50 yrd line on a sunny day and be happy)
-the town is very unique...one store is the GAP and next to is some quirky little shop that sells unique gifts, decorations or jewelry.
-the town has a fantastic nightlife. there's almost ALWAYS something fun happening and Arts fest in the summer is a BLAST!
-the crime rate isn't too bad. it's not a scary place at night like a lot of large campuses. you learn where to walk and where not to go if it's really late.
-the biggest library i've ever seen with awesome areas to study.
-amazing professors. i feel like my education there has enlightened me to extents i can't even describe.
-ability to take classes that range in everything! you can take astrophysics, wine tasting and spirits, shakespeare, flower arranging, snowboarding, creative writing, economics, french, hinduism...the list goes on and on and on....
-the preacher on campus outside of the chambers building. i didn't usually agree with him, but he is a bit of a "celebrity" on campus...and i use that term loosely.
-frat houses that are beautiful on the outside and enormous, yet inside they are disgusting places where large quantities of boys live....
-the loop (bus) takes you anywhere you need to go! especially if you're a freshman living in east halls (farthest place on campus from everything else!)
-the bryce jordan center gets incredible concerts! i saw dave matthews a few times, cypress hill, linkin park, dixie chicks...the list goes on....
-sitting on the sidewalk at the sports cafe or cafe 210 on a bright spring day drinking a tall lager and watching your friends walk by on the way to class:) hint hint..always schedule early classes in the spring...you won't want to go if they are past 12 or 1 pm:)
-a truly incredible experience. i grew so much in college. i learned about myself and who i was and what i wanted out of life. it was the absolute best choice i could have made....but, i did get that FEELING when i first stepped onto the campus. if you don't get that feeling and the blue and white isn't in your veins, then you may not have as great a time as i did, but i can pretty much guarantee you'll still cherish your time there and enjoy it as a place of growth, learning and education...not only about academics, but yourself, too.

take care and make the right choice for YOU!!!!!!

It has a nice campus. Also, don't just get your opinions from magazines that you probably have never read (U.S. News and World Report). Penn State is a great school and definitely a great deal financially if you live in Pennsylvania. Now is a great time to enroll, especially since Penn State has rekindled its great football program.

i'm in my opinion biased to Penn State because my father went there and that i'm making plans on going there. I stay outdoors of Philadelphia and replaced into making plans on going to temple until eventually I visited. great DANGEOUS. Campus isn't undesirable, yet the first step foot off and, nicely, i understand someone who went 2 blocks off campus and replaced into stabbed not a million, not 2, yet 7 situations for a gang initiation. i'm not particular about the others, yet i understand that Penn State is an somewhat solid college. Temple is very solid, yet very hazardous.

Depending on your major, Penn St. is a pretty decent college in the majority of their classes, but there are better out there. It is also a very nice destination for sporting events and scholarships.

It is an excellent state school.

There are several that are better (UC-Berkeley, Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Georgia Tech all come to mind). There are a lot that are worse.

Look at US News & World Report's rankings or Princeton Review to get a better idea.
