It is not a good idea to remove your firewall. A firewall is the first line defense from malicious attacks. Without a firewall, your laptop would be vulnerable to viruses, spyware, Trojans and other malicious attacks. If your firewall is preventing you from loading a particular website then there is a chance the website contains malware. If you still want to enter the website then you need to adjust the settings on your firewall. Unfortunately, settings differs for different firewalls so I can't walk you through the process without knowing what firewall you use. Nevertheless, try opening the firewall's options. Once opened, turn off any content filters. In addition, there should be a whitelist of websites. Add the sites you want to visit in to the whitelist. The firewall will always allow websites on the whitelist to open.

1. Assuming you have Windows XP:
Start --> Control Panel --> Security Center
Disable the firewall from the appropriate menu item. If the option is disabled, that means you have a separate firewall program running, which usually can be found by examining the system tray.
2. It may be the case the router or the internet provider might have a firewall which you can not turn off.

Go to the security center of the computer, turn them off temporarily, and then reconnect the firewall after you finish what you're doing.
