They call us the english or citizens...and they call our world "the devils playground"..I live among them in an area in NE Missouri..trust me I know them as much as they will allow me to..=)

I once read a book, and have heard this from my aunt, and in the book the Amish call "us" the English. I have no idea as to why they do, but I hope this helps you.

It depends on the reference. Sometimes they refer to someone as being 'non-Amish', when they are talking about religious matters and other times they will talk about someone being 'worldly' when they are talking about cultural matters. This includes things like how someone dresses, whether they ride in cars, etc.
