i am a black person. i understand the question to a certain extent. African American people are very bright and talented people. but the very thought of my black people brings about negative thought. life would be so boring without negativity. although most people think that negativity mostly comes from the black nation it does not. white people along with other cultures just like to cover their feelings up so that no one ever knows how they feel.
no one person in their right mind would ever want to change places with me. not for even one day. influences play a big role on the way that we think as a human race today. life shouldn't be about what you could live without, but how will you face the challenge of bettering yourself without suffering from the poor influences that surround us all day.
life would be a humongous bore without black people, but it would be even more boring if there were only black people.

Well, one thing that we would surely NOT have is the nonsense spewed by the likes of 'Janet' and 'kiea' as to the power of black culture.

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb - black people had NOTHING to do with it.

The first commode was introduced in FRANCE, not in Africa.

Two outright lies, common of the stuff spread to somehow lift up black people.

Janet thinks white culture steals from black people. She must be illiterate. Does she know about Shakespeare? The total catlogue of English poetry up to 1900? Does she know about Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and Mozart? Rembrandt? Renoir? All of these guys are European white folks - not a thread of Africa in the line. Shakespeare, whose inspiration was white Romans of 100BC, did not borrow a thing from African culture - not a thing. Does this make African culture invalid? No - but it certainly does make Anglo-American white culture valid and significant - something that many "african-americans" have problems with.

If you read Dr. King, you will see that he was against the phrase "African-American". He wanted to be thought of as an American with black skin. There are many great Americans with black skin - who would want to live life without them? But "african-americanism" has contributed much disinformation and deceit to our culture, as witnessed by the two answers above. Indeed, many black americans can trace their family trees back farther onto these shores than many white americans. I'm "only" a third generation American - yet I think of myself purely as an American. Too many black americans, who have been here for 6,7,8 generations, think they somehow still have roots to Africa. Its is non-sense.

Yet all we have today is "African American" culture. Black America is dead - long live Black America!

.

And, before the chorus starts ...

I am not a racist.
I am not a racist.
I am not a racist.

.

Are you talking about in America or the world in general. I'm guessing you mean America. I wish the history was different. I know that's a huge understatement. I wish black people came over here on their own free will like Europeans instead of the atrocious things that happened to them.

wow....i saw this question posted yesterday and added it to my watch list. I know what you mean by asking this question. But, clearly other people do not and answer with what i expected.

I know we contributed alot to the world and if anyone knows anything about history they certainly figure it out. I'm not going to give a thesis on our contributions here.

I'm "Caucasian" as they call it in the US... I think the world needs different ethnic groups, what a bore it'd be without them! I'm always happy to get to know new things about different ethnic groups. Like for example, there was a Capoeira (Brazilian fighting dance) show here where I work today, it was cool! .-)

No traffic light, no light bulb (the filament factor was because of a black man.), no train tracks, no confortable cottn t-shirts, no NBA (haha), No toilet (first indoor toilet was in Africa before slavery), No economy as we know it because this nation was built on the back of African American slaves.

If we never knew about African americans or never knew they even existed then we would not know how the world would be without them.

Well, let's see. 80% of the prison population would be gone. 70% of gang members would be gone. 90% of the population of AIDS would be gone. The majority of welfare recipients, drop-outs, unemployed, pimps and drug dealers would be gone. I find it funny that blacks make up the majority of these types of statistics when they are actually a minority, and only make up 12% of the us population. Not to be racist, but to honestly answer your question, statistically speaking.

well without Dr. King, (although you'd be taking away the hate crimes to begin with)
without slaves, and without all the crap in our history. this world would have been just a LITTLE bit different a place. that's for damn sure.
