ok one more time..............do some exhaust pipes have another pipe inside it? i had my headers connected to my existing exhaust pipes...had to take them off(headers) to check a leak...then i noticed that the new welded exhaust pipe had another pipe inside it,a smaller one?it looks like my old pipe but what i want to know is that normal?

Yeah, its normal because on alot of sport exhausts you have double tips for more horse power

If your not the original owner it may be the exhaust was repaired/modified at some point and someone put a smaller pipe inside the muffler pipe to use as a sleeve. basically stregnthen it during the weld. This is a sloppy but common practice.

what you saw most likely was a drilled piped the ones that look like sives that is to compensate for the comprssion your engine has to have to expelled the fumes, while maintaining less restriction with the larger pipe. Or could it be that you got jiped and they welded a pipe over your old one to make it easier to intall and making you think they put a new one on hence the reason for the leak.

no not normal because an exhaust should be free and it should not have double pipes because that will restrict the air going out easily! have that checked out!

no that is not normal. your exhaust pipe should be one big hallow pipe. or pipes. what kind of car do you have?
