It can take up to 2 weeks or so. Be sure you're taking good care of it, though. Clean it with alcohol every time you change a diaper, give a bath or whatever. The alcohol helps it dry out faster, and keeps it from getting infected. Whatever you do, don't pull it off yourself. It's gross, but it can also cause infection and pain for the baby.

My daughter is 7 months old now and it took almost 5 weeks for hers to finally fall off. I got concerned at 3 weeks and called her Dr. The nurse said that sometimes it does take a while and as long as it wasn't inflamed or oozing any puss-(signs of infection) then it was ok. I used rubbing alchohol 2 times a day.

The cord should fall off within a few days---although it took my daughters cord t about a month and a half to fall off----keep it clean and dry----also you can use alcohol on a Q-tip to keep it clean and the alcohol will help dry it out.

Good luck.

Truthfully, I don't know what the correct answer to this is. If there is one. I can tell you with my first son, it fell off 3 days after he was born, and with my second it took 2 weeks. I did the alchohol and all that the dr. said, it just wouldn't come off. Keep a check on it and make sure it's not infected, and don't pull!!

My son's fell off at 2.5 weeks and my daughter's fell off around 3.5 weeks. When I had my son the Dr. said a week to 10 days. With my daughter they said about a month. Depends on the baby. I put alcohol on it with every other diaper change.

My baby is 2/12 months old, Hers took about 2 weeks, we used rubbing alcohol to clean around it at every changing. Some take up to a month. If it goes longer, call the Doc.

Of my three children, it took between 7 days and three weeks. Just keep using a little bit of alcohol on a cotton ball to dry it out whenever you change the baby's diaper. This speeds the process.
