I was reading this book where a lady said she wasn't with the CIA, after she had saved a U.S. ambassador from a drug lord, but she was a diplomatic liaison, so what's the difference between them?

Catching Weapons of Mass Distruction under the great leader ship of Don Rumsfield! Producing fake papers about purchase of feasile materials from Niger including counterfeit signature of the President of Niger. Before doing some nonsense they should know the name of the person, They wrote something and they put everything is in a mess and blamed for not giving proper guidence to the President by President himself! What a joke!

Well, I have no idea what book you were reading. One mission of the CIA is to collect information overseas that is difficult to obtain because other countries are trying to keep it secret. To collect this information, CIA officers use a variety of methods. To avoid being caught doing this, CIA officers work under a variety of cover jobs, some inside embassies, others outside them. What ever best serves the interests of the United States.

Through out the world there are always people who want to damage the United States. Our Central Intelligence Agency tries to locate such people and do what has to be done to neutralize them before they can hurt us.

It is supposed to be the international equivalent of the FBI. Investigate and collect intelligence outside the USA. The FBI does those tasks within the USA.
