Charles Frazier : If you ever get a chance, go south on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville and there is an exit where you can hike Cold Mountain, it is very nice!

Aimee Liu. I've read it before and it's about a Chinese man marrying a white woman during the SF earthquake. Good book!

Do you mean "COLD" Mountain? If so, it was co-authored by Anthony Minghella & Charles Frazier.
