Color transfer is normal when waxing paint, especially older vehicles, as is oxidation of paint. That is just part of being in the sun. The important things is to keep the vehicle clean, do not wash in the sun, use car wash detergent as it is easier on the painted surfaces.

Rubbing compound will remove paint and should be used sparingly. It is not a wax but used to remove very minor surface marks. A scratch you can feel with your thumbnail will require a pro's opinion.

NuFinish is a good product to use on oxidation. Meguiar's ScratchX will also suffice. Klasse All-In-One is really good on oxidation. Color on the towel is normal if you have paint that is not clearcoated.

Refrain from the rubbing compound and the rotary machine. They'll damage the paint when used by inexperienced hands.
