1. Some people like things that seem exotic and different to them, so if they didn't grow up in a diverse neighborhood it might seem "ooh-la-la"
2. People (Men and Women) Mistake good bravery i.e. for good reasons; like running into a burning building to save a child, with bad bravery: like lack of concern for your safety, like extreme sports by amateurs. And people as a group tend to idolize both for their fearlessness.
3. Since you are referring to Girls and not women, there is an aspect of being a teen which involves a biological drive to separate from the parental nest. Sadly many girls leap before they look.
4. Often girls judge themselves and gain status by which they are attached to. It may be a case of being a medium fish in a small pond and thus feeling like they are living large.
