Everytime I eat potato chips, I always get a small cut on the corner of my mouth. I'm not sick or anything, but it seems like evertime I eat chips, probably more than the usual serving, I get a small little cut on the corner of my mouth.

Is it from the salt in the chips, they are pretty salty.

It is definitely the salt in the chips. That happens to me sometimes as it tends to gather at the corners of your mouth. That happens to me with popcorn too. When it is too salty, my lips swell up.

It's from the chip rubbing the side of your mouth. After a few chips and them scraping the side of your mouth, you will develop that little cut. Then the salt doesn't help.

I think you already have the cut in your mouth, but the salt on the chips just makes you realize that it is there because it gets in the cut and stings you.

Lips are thin- skinned to start with, then the oil softens them at the same time the salt draws out the water. Eventually salt crystals slide into the corners and rub them raw before you lick them clean. The next ones there dissove and cause burning pain and irritation.

My guess is that the cuts come from the chip cutting you when you eat them.

Your lips are ultra sensitive...

I get that too. It is not a small cut, it is a salt allergy. Don't eat too many and you'll be better.
