i guess even if the one is happy , the one has some sadness in the deepth of his heart.
i guess this is because of the problems in each one life.
or maybe not problems exactly. maybe things affected us in our childhood and left a bit of sadness and we don't even remember them.
or some dreams that didn't come true..
u worked hard on something and u didn't get any encouregment or support or u succeed in an important thing but nobody cared of u ..
a lot of things may be we think that we forgot about it. but it stay there in our souls and let us feel sad.

Not everyone is sad, like me, I'm not... but there is a lot of saddness in the world because most of the world doesn't have a good attitude about hardship. Sometimes its difficult to go through bad times facing everything with joy, but as a Christian, that's how it goes for me. I guess it's sort of why I can smile, because I know no matter how bad it gets down here, I'll one day go home to live in eternity with my Lord, and that's a huge reason to stay happy. Maybe a few sad people will read this and be inspired and manage to find happiness, peace, and joy. I hope.:)

Very insightful question. I'd be interested in hearing how you recognized this
The answer is 'addiction to thinking and postponing joy'
Western civilization is the noisiest in history. People are trying to drown out the constant noise of the 'thinking mind'.
Try this. See if you can be present in the one thing you are doing at this moment? You will find your mind/body comes up with many evasions to being present.
However, the Present is all there is.
People are sad because they are seeking fullfillment in the future and they can't contol their thinking mind. "When my ship comes in, When I get to.......when this or that happens then I'll be happy." In doing so they have disregarded the only source of true joy, the present moment.
See if you can imagine the Present as all there is, as say a flag pole stuck in the ground, immovable. Change comes and goes around the pole like dancers at a Maypole, but the pole remains constant. This also coincides with the question about "TIME".
If we disregard the present we are dis'ing our very selves.. because that's where WE are to be found, in the here and now.
People are sad because they've lost the ability to be in connection with themselves, and thus have lost deep connection with humanity.
If you learn to BE in the NOW with no thoughts of past or future, if you surrender you feelings and thoughts to what is at the current moment and accept what IT no matter what, a sensation of bliss will wash over your body, coming from deep with in. This is your natural state, but has been covered by constant thinking. FInd it, the sadness ends and true Life comes to the fore.
And I will add, everything you ever wanted begins to flow into your life automatically.

I love this question. It's a reminder that not all of life is covered in sadness.
Really, why are people so sad? There are many, many reasons for people to be sad. Loved ones die, homes are lost, people get hurt on so many levels and in so many different ways. Sometimes it is even easier to be sad than to be happy.
Sadness is a balance. It makes happiness all the more elevated in a ying-yang sort of sense. You realize the difference.

It seems to be becoming trendy to be depressed. All the little middle school girls who cut themselves and advertise about it on their blogs... the 'emo' stuff... I don't know. I find it disturbing. Since when was it cool to be sad?
Not dissing all self-mutilators out there, only the ones who do it for attention. Everything seems to be darkish these days. Not saying I haven't been there; I definitely have... but I didn't say "oh I'm so depressed I listen to My Chemical Romance and my favorite color is black." Seriously, people need to learn to be what they are. If that's depressed, so be it.... but get some help, because we all know it's much more fun to be happy. Happy people can be deep too, you know. :)

That's a pretty general question, but I'll do my best to answer. I believe it to be the very world we live in. It's pretty rough out here in the world. Depression due to being overworked, underpaid. Loss of family time and activities. Accumulation of stress without venting through proper channels. The economy, the state of affairs with the world. Poverty, fear, the educational system. There are truly a million different reasons that effect the psychological state of someone's mind. You never can tell.

Everyones sad because noone KNOWS anything. Most of us feel, believe and think, but None of us " Knows" any truth - we just think we do, feel like we do or believe that we do. This is why people are so sad.
Try it ! ask a person to tell you what they know( absolute truth ) if there answer can be affected or influenced by things like time, school, church , man, money or experience- then its not knowlegde.

My theory is that even so we're all packed ever closer together in order to facilitate our own faster-moving lives, we distance ourselves from others. As we were never meant to be isolated, we feel lonely even in a crowded room. That would make anybody sad. People with a good sense of community and people to rely on seldom describe themselves as sad.

i am sad because i'm in love with a man that will never love me back. i'm sad because i don't have the guts to tell him that i love him. i'm sad because i let him treat me badly because i love him, and want to do anything to make him love me. i'm sad because i CANT make him love me.
i'm sad because my friends don't think as highly of me as i thought they did.
i'm sad because i'm sexy, not beautiful.
i'm sad because my best friend is dead.
i'm sad because i have a hematoma (blood clot) in my leg that may have to be surgically removed.
i'm sad because my face is breaking out.
i'm sad because i ended a conversation that could have gone on longer
i'm sad because someone i used to care for very deeply hurt me very badly
i'm sad because the forementioned person is not persueing me anymore

You only "assume" that, Have you ever thought that everyone may just be experiencing some other state of human expression.
"nothing is either good or bad, only thinking makes it so" (William Shakespeare).
Wishing you Health, Peace and Happiness.
