When I look at Japanese cartoons ALL of the characters in every cartoon has overly large and round eyes. Asian people look nothing like the cartoon characters they draw. Asian people are very attractive as a race, why don't they want to see images of themselves as they really look in cartoons. Doesn't that set a bad example for Asian kids? Shouldn't they be proud of how they look?

well you can't really base all Asians just on a japanese animation, that's their sense of styling in drawing, and NOT all anime characters have big eyes, maybe it's what you're exposed it. Big eye chracters are normally for cartoons for the kids, which are the kinds they display on T.V. in America. its a drawing effect that relates to being babyish or for child kinda thing. anyways, there's not much of a big deal unless you think it is, most Asian people are just like any average person. Everyone has their own types of people, satisfied ones and unsatisfied. To conclude that you think Asian people have a poor self image off of a kiddie animation cartoon is a little off....

Yes I agree that asian people in general have a poor self image. A lot of young women want to have westernized white features. A lot of young asian girls in high school dye their hair brown or blonde, or have highlights that color. Yes japanese cartoons seem discriminatory to me because of the extremely large eyes which are not realistic to asian people's eyes.
Did you know that asian women actually get plastic surgery to get the flap of skin folded on their eyelid and get a nose job so they can have a pointier bridge? This is very very bad poor self esteem. I think American media has made asian men appear asexaul and nerdy and I think American media don't use enough asian female role models on TV or in the movies. I think a lot of asians want to assimilate into white society. No matter how light they dye their hair or skin though, they are still asian. It is sad but TV influences how people perceive others in society.

Um, do you think most cartoons look real? They're *cartoons*!

And no, I don't think that between the billions of Asian people there isn't some high self-esteem.
