You could also try soaking it in a hot bath of salt water.

set the dye first in a vinegar/water solution (you can add 1/2 cup to 1 cup white vinegar to rinse cycle in washer--or just do it in the sink if it's just 1 t shirt). Then launder as ususal in cold water, no bleach--not even colorsafe bleach.

soak the t-shirt in a solution of sodium carbonate before you dye it, the sodium carbonate bonds to the fibers of the t-shirt and the dye bonds to the sodium carbonate making it stick during wash cycles.
