By simplify to you mean multiply out:

15x^2 + 20x - 21x -28

then..

15x^2 - x -28

You use FOIL. Multiply all numbers by eachother.

FOIL (First, Outside, Inside, Last)

First: 5x * 3x = 15x^2
Outside: 5x * 4 = 20 x
Inside: - 7 * 3x = - 21x
Last: - 7 * 4 = - 28

15x^2 + 20x - 21x - 28

15x^2 - x - 28

it really is all about searching straightforward denominator. a million/2 = 4/8 -- 4/8 + a million/8 = 5/8 5/8 = 10/16 -- 10/16 + 5/16 = 15/16 a million/3 = 3/9 -- a million/9 + 3/9 = 4/9 a million/15 = 4/60 5/12 = 25/60 -- 4/60 + 25/60 = 29/60 i don't believe of that those would nicely be simplified any more beneficial than that. desire this facilitates.

FOIL (First, outside, inside, last).

(5x times 3x) + (5x times 4) + (3x times -7) + (4 times -7) = (15x^2) + (20x) + (-21x) + (-28) = 15x^2 - x - 28.

Now apply the principle to doing your own homework.

(5x-7)(3x+4)
=(5x). (3x) + (5x).(4) -(7).(3x) -(7).(4)
=15x^2 +20x -21x -28
=15x^2 -x -28

you multiply it out using either FOIL or the box method. (FOIL is first, outer, inner, last and that's the order you multiply everything together, in case you didn't know)

15x^2 - x - 28
I think that's what you should get if you use FOIL.
