I used that oxy stuff to get red wine out of a white shirt just the other day. It took about a half hour to get it all the way out, but it worked. I'd bet it'll work on carpets, too.

Hydrogen peroxide will also work on red wine. The trick is to blot the stain right away to sop up most of the liquid. Then, pour a little bit of hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain and continue blotting to permanently remove it.

oxyclean makes a stain remover spray, but I take a dixie cup, pour oxyclean powder into it, add hot water (doesn't all dissolve), and then pour some of the solution onto the spot. Rub it in with your fingers, blot with a towel, and it should be gone. We've done this with wine and ink and it's worked on both, sometimes takes two tries.

I have heard that pouring white over the red neutralizes the stain but I don't know if it is true.
