Spuffy all the way!
When Buffy started liking Angel, she had never really been in love before, so she was therefore even more attached to him when otherwise she might not have been. Plus, they never had any fun! It was all drama this, drama that. Buffy was willing to be in a relationship with him without sex, but Angel couldn't for some stupid reason and left her out of nowhere. Before prom! What a jerk!!! Plus when Angel had a soul he was nice to her, but without one, oh boy!
Now Spike, his love for Buffy developed over a period of time. He really cared for her and only left her to go and get his soul for her. He went through all kinds of torture on all kinds of occasions for her. But let's be honest, Buffy didn't want to love him, but who is to say she didn't anyway? She thought that if she loved him, there was something worng with her, but turns out not so much because when he comes back with a soul she stops abusing him and they get along famously. When Spike had a soul he was nice to her, and when he didn't have a soul he was nice to her, unlike Angel.

Unfortunately I have to go with Bangel. She only slept with Spike for sex and she (unfortunately) never actually loved him. So their relationship was doomed from the start. I didn't like the way she had the attitude that he was good enough to sleep with, but god forbid her friends find out they were shagging. She slept with him but she treated him as less than human. Kind of ironic when you consider how upset she was with Parker for sleeping with her then moving on to the next innocent college freshman. I really like Spike and I felt bad that she never cared about him. I was happy when they started hooking up because I was hoping she'd change her mind about him. I think it kind of made it worse that he really was in love with her, because it made her rejection of him that much nastier.
So given that their relationship was only ever sexual on Buffy's part it leaves you with Bangel. They truly did love each other, and their relationship was fantastic while it was working out and before they had sex. The episode where he left was horrible. I have all the seasons on DVD but I've never re-watched that one after I saw it because it was just too wrong. Secretly I'm still bitter that he went on to have other relationships and turn into a manwhore with Cordelia!! I did think they were a bit too broody, but they did seem like soulmates.
I do agree with other posters saying that the relationship was more honest and passionate with Spike. But still, she never loved him. Sad but true! Besides, what's better than two lovers doomed to never be together??

Bangel! You had me there for a second couldn't figure out what you were talking about. Bangel was better because they had a deeper love for one another although a forbidden love whereas Spuffy was more physical attraction. Aww I miss that show!

I've always felt the relationship with Angel was holding her back. He seemed to always be in the way. Though she and Spike had a love/hate thing going, in the end it made Buffy a better person and it was more passionate.
There were no secrets with Spike, what you saw was what you got.
