If they could get him they would, with public opinion at an all time low and morale for troops and citizens alike, getting him would actually prove they are getting somewhere. Problem is, that when they got him and the bombs kept going, who would we blame, the whole terrorism war is a farse as it is a war against an ideology not a person, people or country. Bombs wont fix this problem. We need to think harder

I have always thought that he is alive and driving a cab in Manhattan. Where do you hide a tree? in a forest of course. Seriously though , given all our technology why hasn't this man been found ? During WW2 we had a pretty good idea where Hitler was. We intercepted Japanese communications and shot down admiral Yamomoto- the architect of pearl harbor - over the lonely reaches of the Pacific . Sixty or so years later we can't find Bin Laden. Nonsense. When the fox is captured the game is over and the administration doesn't want the game to end.

It could be because he would be a Martyr, and therefore engender greater bravado among Islamic militants. Partly, it could be just the bumbling incompetence of the Bush administration in apprehending him, and their misguided efforts to expend a bulk of our resources on a country like Iraq, that did not attack us. I imagine if you had the show of force, and sheer number of troops in Iraq devoted instead to Afghanistan, we easily could have apprehended him.

On a more conspiratorial note it maybe a convenient thing for the administration to keep him alive, as an excuse to keep people in a state of fear and paranoia so that they can justify the carnage that they create in order to amass power and money.

Osama is still alive because he's still useful to the Bush administration. What a great "boogy man" to scare all the Fox "News" viewers with.

That's part of it, capturing him and putting him on trial would still make him look like a hero to certain people, also, he's being hidden from the US forces by an organization with ample funds and substantial support from the population.

OBL is alive, but not well, because... Have you ever tried to pick out one rat from a thousand running around. He blends in. He's most likely shaved off his beard and is dressing like a woman.

He's alive because he is amongst millions who support him. And we can't go through the region with 500,000 troops, so eventually we'll get him. His network is in tatters and he doesn't dare show himself. He ain't a happy camper, I bet.

I agree and have mixed emotions about that too. I think the longer he is hidden, and if we can render his organization harmless, I think he will fade away and no longer be relevant.

Maybe that's our strategy, not to capture him, just let him be irrelevant.
