who got his throat slit during a game by a player's skate. His first name was Clint. He bled like crazy but didn't die and came back to play the next year. There was an ESPN special on him like Beyond the Glory. Who is he & which team did he play for? Also do you think hockey players are the toughest athletes?

Clint Malarchuk of the Sabres. My sister and I still laugh about his comments after his recovery. He said they should have installed a zipper so he could put pencils and ruler in there for school.

Clint Marlachuk. 1989 Sabres.

Seeing that crap, he's one of the toughest athletes of all sports. He got his throat slit, and he still had the guts to come back the next year.

Hands down, Marlachuk is one of the greatest athletes. That takes determination to do what he did.

Clint Malarchuk was his name and he was a Buffalo Sabre.

Also I would have to say that some hockey players are tough just as some football players are (american football only) and some baseball players are. I definitely wouldn't classify Daniel Alfredsson as being "one of the toughest athletes ever".
