If you're asking where the geographic center would be, it's Rugby, North Dakota. The economic and political centers of a trans-continental union would be unlikely to change from those of today for many reasons (note that Bonn, Germany still has a political atmosphere 20 years after reunification). This is, of course, all under the very improbable assumption that such a union would be formed as anything significantly more than what NAFTA already is.

We will not become one North American country, because each separate nation (America, Canada, and Mexico) still has its own problems trying to resolve the continued issue of strong central government versus state/commonwealth/territorial control. I believe the initiative of the NAFTA superhighway is ultimately being designed and will be built as part of America's continued efforts to secure the North American continent from a hostile military takeover or annihilation by foreign powers on another continent (i.e. China and N. Korea). It is simply a more extravagant and diplomatic addition to the Eisenhower highway system that was built in the twentieth century to guarantee the success of our military in case of attack by the Soviets. Another example of highways like these being primarily strategic military projects, is the construction of the Audubon in Germany during the Third Reich era. In addition to their military significance, they also provide a boost in the economy by providing a huge public works project to be planned, developed, constructed, and maintained, by not only government employees, but contracted civilian employees. And obviously having a more accessible freeway eases ground transportation routes (this will increase the efficiency of commercial shipping and ease personal travel to a certain degree depending on where you live).

I don't think that'll happen even though with the way illegal immigration from mexico is now, it's already like the US and mexico is one big country. Just without canada.

At first glance you could mistake mexico for the the 51st state. The big forgotton one that nobody likes.

Only things will keep Americans from supporting such a change:

1. Anti-hispanic sentiment that has been aroused by the immigration debated.
2. The potential confusion that will arise as "bacon" and "canadian bacon" are integrated into the same country.

That would ONLY benefit Canada and Mexico. We are watching a degradation of a nation (USA), but no way USA will be pulled down to the level of Canada...and Mexico. NEVER.. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
