I 'm a graphic designer, and i studied under an art school. So university's offer similar programs in advertising, but you need to be in the art school of a 4 year university or a 2 year trade school. The programs used for your desired profession vary depending on what you want to focus on...such as print, publication, web, or motion. Here is a list of popular software to use:
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Indesign or Quark Xpress
Macromedia Flash
Macromedia Dreamweaver
Adobe GoLive
These are just some of the main programs... but there are others made by other publishers that do the same things as these.... Hope this helps.

I am not sure your current age, but with that spelling you may want to stay in school first. depending on your grades go to a community college. they have counselors there that can direct you on the right path to what courses to start on. even if you go to a 4 year college straight out of high school there are counselors there that will help. or you can always do the trade school route. but some trade schools are beginning to take that course out because there isn't much demand in that work field anymore.
