Personally, I say scerw the UN (its been 2 days and they still don't know if they want to make a stupid statement or not) and we send a couple of our missles over there (they actually work) and blow up the remaining missles on the launch pad. If that little fuzz ball over there wants to start a war, let him. What is he going to do? They can't beat us. We don't even have to put a foot in their country to win. Our Navy and Air Force can do it. He had his chance back in 98 to stop (he said he would with Clinton) and yet, the little fuzz ball's ego has shot up again. But what do I know? I'm just a regular American. What do you think?

when i said let the little fuzz ball start it, he said that even if the UN makes sanctions, he said that he will consider it an act of war. plus, i'm sick and tired of all these countries taunting us. if we would just blow up the missles now, instead of waiting, other countries might think twice befor taunting us.

Keep them isolated, prevent weapons proliferation (blockade if neccessary) and let them fall on their own. They will.

Answers above are extreme reactions. Tough stand eventually escalating to a war situation must be the last resort since war helps no one and ruins economy. It is some thing like this. What do you do when naughty one does inexplicable acts simply to gain attention. Give him a chance to come forward and encourage him to be part of the group. Bring them to the negotiating table by making it attractive. Diplomacy and peaceful/mutually agreed solutions are the way forward. This never means capitulation or tolerating aggressive intentions which must be reined in by the principle of graduated escalation.

I can't agree that we should bomb them before they get a chance to bomb us, but I believe that we should announce to the world that if any country manages to hit any part of America with a nuclear bomb of any kind no matter how small or how much or little damage is done, we will immediatly release many dozens of our largest and best on all of their major cities.
The same goes for anyone who succeeds in assembling a bomb in the United States. If one is assembled and detonated, we will learn where the technology and parts came from. That country will cease to exist. No time will be lost, no debating, no confering with others. The return action must be immediate and thorough. The entire country must go in one instant.

I think it's sad that the NK leader is starving his own people. He is an irrational, immature, and sad little man....with nuke power. It's hard to say what should be done, bc the peope of NK are suffering under his power....I agree that the U.N. is a mostly irrelevant organization....but I have to agree that there is not much to do except watch and wait with regards to NK. I know that the U.S. is prepared to shoot down any missiles that head our way...and that if any do head our way, that will be as much as a declaration of war. And most of the world pretty much agrees that NK is a threat...maybe with the exception of other irrational immature countrues such as Iran and Communist Government of China (they're immature, bc they cannot relinquish control of a teensy weensy free country called Taiwan).
So, watch and wait is my best answer....a heart attack for NK leader might be nice.

I think that on one hand, North Korea's a tempest in a teapot. They know their country's about as important as a puddle of oil under a Buick(maybe less, because you'd notice the oil, and take you car in to get checked), and the missile thing is their way of getting noticed. It's kind of like some other no-future 3rd world countries. They feel important 'cause they got a gun.
Well, China's got guns, TOO!. The biggest favor China could do for em would be to kind of just take it over, or something. Or maybe just eat it...lots of hungry people in China...

Well, in this case if we just kept to ourselves we just might notice a few InterContinental Balistic Missiles landing on our doorsteps in a few years.
Economic sanctions are probably our best bet right now. Their country is already struggling to keep alive, maybe if they have less or no food (they can't produce nearly enough food on their own) the Chonger will come back to the table to talk...

The problem with your suggestion is he would be poised to kill thousands in South Korea before he goes down, and we would be giving him "the excuse" to do it.
That's why we haven't done it that way. We have to think of our allies and the lives of their civilians.
That said, I don't think we're playing enough hard ball with them. The biggest mistake is that we're distracted by things we shouldn't have been involved with.
Iran and North Korea think they can fool around with us, because they can right now. We're weaker as a result of the Iraqi invasion and they know we don't have the ability to go after them.
It's poor foreign policy and it leaves us with little options when dealing with the legitimate threats of No. Korea and Iran.

America should take our troops out of Iraq and put them back in the demilitirized zone. North Korea is playing with America since they know all our attention is on Iraq and Iran.

North Korea is not a threat to us yet. But Russia & China siding with them ticks me off. Time to look at finanicial pressure to remind Russia & China who they need where their trade & for Russia help comes from.

who cares what they do...they have no missles that can hurt us and if they actually do do something to one of our allies...lets say japan they know they would be totally worked over by everyone in the world...but what they are doing is basically diplomatic posturing...they are just stroking their egos...its a bunch of political mastur..... you get what i'm saying

If the nk's want to play with fire , let them burn themselves. they have been warned , and bribed yet they still persist in being a$$holes, so i say let them blow themselves up. then use their country as an international garbage dump.but i digress, i live my life and try to stay out of others.
