Once I heard her say that her hair was in a very unhealthy state(breaking, spilt ends, chemical treatments,etc.), so she decided to shave it off to start off new. Some women shave their head because they feel as if it's not healthy due to a chemical treatment that damaged it. Also you know India likes to be an individual.so.... She talks abut it briefly on her song "I am not my Hair."......that's what I got. It could have been for spiritual reasons though....

India Arie. did that because she likes attention and this is how to get it; she has finally realized that Jill Scott, Goapple and Amel Lauriex (Groove Theory; For Real)are better singers than her and she has to compete and this is the best way to get in magazines, TV specials, and award shows; so more fame to her

her name is India Arie and she always cut her hair it is just what she likes to do with her hair and have you heard of her new song called I am not my hair

maybe cause you wanted to express how she felt about her hair she probaly wanted a new look she felt that she was tired of her real hair so she could give her self a new look you should express your self by helping the communite.

I heard that she did it for spirituality/religious reasons, such as a cleansing experience. Do not quote me on that, I could be wrong.
