I have never enjoyed music when it was popular. Many people say that I was born 20 years too late for all of my musical tastes. I can appreciate some of today's music. However, my choices are generally for older music from the 1960's through the beginning of the 1990's. That seems to be a time when people wrote truly memorable songs. These days, songs seem so popular and catchy, but we forget about them in a year or two. Why is it that I still remember so many songs that my parents played for me on 45 rpm record albums? I think there was more of a craft and art to songwriting back then. Now, it's about dollars.
Think about it -- how many groups that came out 10 years ago are still around today? Are they still popular in the charts? Geez, not many. Back in the day, bands worked really hard to keep writing quality material so that their fans would stay interested. These days, it's about makin' a couple big catchy hits and touring. There is no thought about the follow-up album or even being around for more than 5 years.

Some 60s, 70s and 80s music are best for my taste, but in all fairness, don't necessarily take my word for it. Part of it is the music, but part of is also the nostalgia and remembering a time when I was younger.
But I admit I'm somewhat disconnected with today's music and have been since the early 90s.

I definetly prefer old music. It just seems that the music nowadays have lost there creativity, and inspiration.Music as the 90's,80's were definetly the best. Now,musicians are losing there flow.Even the old musicians from back then, come out w/ new music that arnt as great. The only one's that still create good music would have 2 be,nin, tool, godsmack, and cant remember the rest. But old music definetly yakes the cake.
