I have many answers to this single question and all of them coming from observing not only American society, but also people's behavior and attitudes towards sex.
My first observation comes from society. For several decades, America's youth has been taught that is okay to have as much unprotected sex as they desire and with as many patterns and that they will never have to take responsibility for the consequences of "opening their legs" or not "leaving it in their pants." The best way that I can find to phrase the way that American youth's view sex and abortion is as a revolving door - have sex, get pregnant, get a shot, have sex, get pregnant, get a shot. The only time that the door stops revolving is when someone test positive for an STD. Twenty-first society is, now, trying to teach us others wise, believing that if men and women are forced to live with the consequences of their decision to "spread them" and "whip it out" the revolving door will cease to exist.
My second observation is about pro-lifers. Although many of them are trying correct or modify of decades worth of teaching and negative influence, I have noticed that the majority of pro-lifers are members of the Christian faith. It is these individuals whom you see on the news and who are "all up in your face" preaching about how abortion is "Evil, "against God," and "anyone that has one is going to Hell." History has proven - time and time, again - that it is Christian nature to impose their faith, beliefs, and ideas upon others.

If it not mistaken its even illegal to kill yourself or try to kill yourself. But its your body after all. Many people consider abortion killing of another human willfully or unwillfully. Some would call it murder or manslaughter.
I personally don't agree with it much. I know so many couples who are so desperate for children that they've flown all the way to China or other countries and paid countless thousands of dollars just to have a child to raise because for whatever reason they can't have one on their own. Even my wife and I had a difficult time with her miscarrying the baby the first 2 out of 3 times she was pregnant.
You never know if that unborn child is going to have the right set of oppurtunities, circumstance, guidance, and wisdom to one day make the world a better place. He or she might be the one that researches the cure for a disease or invents a new clean energy

It is your own personal choice what to do with your body. People need to keep out of other peoples business.
I am pro-choice, it is up to the woman to decide what is best for her, not the government or anyone else. Besides, if the pregnancy is unwanted or unplanned then sometimes it is the best and only option. People need to tend to their own business and keep their noses out of stuff that doesn't concern directly concern them.

It's been my experience that *most* pro-lifers don't give a two sh!ts about women...it's the unborn baby that they care about. If a woman wants to have an abortion and damage her body, that's her business, but she's also damaging (uh, killing) an unborn child who doesn't have a voice. These "meddlers" are the voice for that child.

I think I speak for most women when I say that if you spread your legs and got pregnant you should take the responsibility to carry the baby to term and give it to someone that can take care of it and love it like you couldn't and not to KILL the poor thing...think about that for a while!
PS: Those who say it's not killing is stupid the heart starts to beat and you can hear it through ultra sound not too long after conception....LOOK IT UP!!!!

no doubt. some people will say they are looking out for the interests of the unborn child. what about the baby's rights? well, i invite them all to adopt an unwanted child.
if every unwanted pregnancy were carried to term, our society would either be innundated with too many orphans and/or too many children would be raised in an unhappy home. Ultimately the community would be worse off than it is now.

It depends on whether they are for or against abortion...I think they try to persuade young girls not to abort it, because they don't want those girls to have feelings of guilt or regret later on in their lives when they do want to start a family. They will wonder, "I wonder what my child would've looked like if..." there are many adults who cannot have children, and would love to adopt a child that cannot be cared for by its natural mother. It's not really a right for them to, it's just because they don't want them to have regrets later on. No person should regret something.

First, the word is meddle, not medal.
Secondly, since abortion is felt in some quarters to be the taking of a life of a viable human being, it becomes society's business, as it is viewed as murder.

That's what I'm saying! It's 2006 people and the ruling of Roe vs. Wade still stands! It is a WOMAN'S DECISION what to do with her body! Stop being so judgemental and grow up!

I completely agree. People need to back off and let the choice be for the woman.
