I believe some mermaids were called Sirens, their singing lured pirates, sailors, and others of the like, into the sea where they drowned. The singing was supposedly irresistible.

Mermaids are a legendary aquatic creature with the head and torso of human female and the tail of a fish. The male version of a mermaid is called a merman. Various cultures throughout the world have similar figures. They were known to sing sailors to their deaths, like the Siren, or squeeze the life out of drowning men, while trying to rescue them.

The Sirens of Greek mythology are sometimes portrayed in later folklore ; in fact in some languages the name sirena is used interchangeably for both creatures. Other related types of mythical or legendary creature are water fairies (e.g. various water nymphs) and selkies.

Well I used to be merely a maid but now I am a woman! As for the fictional mermaids-part fish and part human it would not be so bad if the ocean could be a safe place now the environment is as bad as the rest of the earth-and of course there should be mermen

No, mermaids do not exist. Sailors with cabin fever usually claim that they saw one, but it turns out to be a manatee or now extinct dugong. Mermaids are also known as Sirens that lure sailors to rocks, causing the man to die. (Which is why I think women should have accompanied them.
Mermaids are usually portrayed as beautiful, although they may not be as pretty as they may seem.

Mermaids are legendary creatures thought to sing sailors to their death. It is thought that manatees are behind it myth of the mermaid (they cradle their young in their "arms" like humans and when seen breaking the water through a bed of seaweed appear to have hair).

I believe they are because I knew this sailor who had head that was very small and disproportionate to his body (he was 6'2, 215 and lifted weights, yet his hat size was a 6). So I asked him how he got that way, and he said he asked a mermaid for some pu$$y one day, and she said "no because I'm half fish, so I don't have one, stupid!!". So then he asked her...."well then, how about a little head?"

theyve existed throughout mythology, particularly greek, and a bunch of stories. the term mermaid later on, also came to mean a wh*re. so like mary queen of scots, people showed her with a mermaids body cause they thought she was a sl*t.

Seriously, no. They are not.
Have you ever noticed how your skin goes wrinkly when you've been in the bath too long? Think about it...if they existed, they would certainly not look very nice now, would they!? Also, sea salt ruins hair, so bye bye to the long, flowing locks!
Trust me, even if they had existed eons ago, they don't now.
(please tell me you're 10 or under to be thinking this...!)

:)

Yes. They are real. Most of them are currently unemployed. You might have something in common with them?
