The best writer of horror today is Stephen King my friend. But thats my opinion, not necessarily a fact.

Dean Koontz holds the readers attention from beginning to end. Stephen King sometimes can be, dare i say it? Boring, at times in his books. For an awsome read try Dean Koontz Intensity, Watchers, or The Bad Place (among many others) and maybe then compare it to Stephen Kings It.

Stephen King has argued that the best at the moment is Bentley Little.

What about M.Night Shyamalan? Doesn't he write also? Stephen King is still probably the best writer, though.

Stephen King when he's good - unfortunately, too many of his more recent books have only been so-so. Never read a bad book from John Saul - he writes ones you can't put down.
