Although I SERIOUSLY doubt you've perfected your right handed lay up, try the George Mikan exorcise. "dribble" the ball against the backboard alternating your left and right hands.

Sure, practice does make perfect, but, you have to know what to practice. One of the oldest drills in bball is the big man/ Mikan-drill. There are a couple of ways to do this. You can either stand directly under the goal and slightly slidestep while attempting to put the ball off of the square (and into the goal). Alternate back and forth from slightly sidestepping from the right to the left. The other way is to start on the right side of the goal, shoot the layup, then go to the other side of the goal and repeat. Use as little motion as possible, minimal dribbling, and, minimal steps. Stay close to goal, and, always use the backboard. The main reason why you see so many missed layups in the league(NBA) is due to guys unwillingness to revert to fundamentals, i.e, use of the backboard/ banking the ball in. If you really want to get better, it's up to you. I'm here to tell you, you can do it, too! Good Luck.
