Kudos for trying. I quit many years ago. What I did was drive a lot. Just drive. But I didn't know about things that could help and although cold turkey is hard it's the best way, so hang in there. Since I've learned that drinking lots of water and fruit juices and taking hot baths helps. I know that's not hands, but maybe those things will help supplement. The drinks and water help you feel better while the nicotine withdrawal is taking place.
At home--go mow the lawn--play racquetball--don't go to places where you sit--or drink--keep as active as you can. And IT IS WORTH IT. The first two weeks were the worst for me. After that every day you don't smoke you are building a wall that gradually helps keep you from hopping over it. You remember how you felt before you stopped--how much better you feel now. Stay away from any friends you smoked with for a while, too. And hang in there, friend. I'm rooting for you.

Model rocketry; playing a musical instrument; painting by numbers (or, if you are interested, oils, watercolors or acryllic); house repairs; puzzles - jigsaw, crosswords, Jumbles, Sudoku; letter writing (I know, archaic in this day and age, but who doesn't like to receive a hand written letter, instead of another credit card offer from a huge Mega-Corp?); typing (or writing) poetry, short-stories; knitting; crocheting; learning magic tricks with coins (quarters rolling on knuckles is one I'm STILL trying to do). Card games/tricks. Reading.
Congratulations on 4 days~ keep it going!

A fake plastic cigarette worked for my hubby's grandma. Unfortunately, she waited until she had lung cancer before she quit. She's stage 4 now, and it's any day....
Maybe that will help keep you from smoking. I wish you the best!

My wife had great luck quitting when she bought a stress ball. She just squeezes it and it keeps her hands busy. She chewed gum to deal with the oral fixation.
