She writes - "Yes, that is why I am embarking on this fast. It is not because our nation with the complacent, if not intellectual, approval of most of our citizens is waging a war crime of mammoth proportions in Iraq. It's not because our soldiers are committing atrocities on an innocent population who never asked for our lethal interference. I am not fasting because our soldiers should not be dying or killing for Exxon and Halliburton. I am not sitting here with mild hunger pangs because our leadership condones and orders others to commit cruelties on my fellow human beings in such brutal places as Guantanamo. I am not fasting because the wrongfully, illegally, and immorally detained men in Guantanamo are going on their own hunger strikes and committing suicide to call attention to the fact that they are human beings who do not deserve to be tortured and tormented."

Jesus and Gandhi (among many noted leaders) fasted. Do we hate them too? Who is Cindy Sheehan hurting for standing up for what she believes in?

Cindy Sheehan is being willingly used by a number of leftist organizations whose postion on the war in Iraq is opposite of President Bush. She was already maleable to these groups before her son died, but his death gave her a tangible "cause" to avenge his death ... not against the people who killed him ... or the Islamic Jihadists who drive the Middle Eastern pain into the West ... that led to this war in Iraq. It is my own belief that her activity has cost the lives of at least 500 more soldiers since her son's death because of the psychological boost it gives the Jihadists to have a high profile grieving mother support their postition. Freedom of speech in America is one of the things those soldiers die for though - if only indirectly as they try to lend stability to Iraq in a difficult time. So - as a matter of principle, she should not be quieted down. Let her talk and fast and demonstrate. From my view, she seems to do her cause more harm than good anyway.

I am in agreement with her starving her sorry a** to death. She's a traitor. An ambarrassment to the families of American soldiers. This woman is a wack job on 10 different levels! She did not raise her own son, as she gave him up. He volunteered for duty, it's not like he was drafted, it was a free choice. If she is so concerned about the people in Gitmo Bay, she needs to go SEE what it is, These folks are KILLERS, terrorists, they don't play by the rules westerners play by, they don't GET to have "rights'.. WHERE was she on 9/11? She's a freaking moron! Somebody get her some psych meds! and cindy, shut your CRY HOLE!

So a liberal starves to death for a lost cause. To me this is not a noble act but sheer idiocy. Obviously she won't see this out to the bitter end, thus making her not only an idiot, but a hypocrite as well. When will you liberals ever learn the only way to achieve your goals is through force of will. Not simpering weakness. This sounds a lot like a child's rant of "I'll hold my breath until I die."
SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN!

She is a sick woman who has used the death of her son to elevate her social status. She is just like the NJ women who have used their husbands 911 deaths for glory and to attack the Bush administration. Opposing the administration is 1 thing BUT using the death of a family member for 15 minutes of fame and attacking the administration doesn't impress the majority of America. Let's send her to Gitmo and she can join the other fasters.

Frankly, I think she's a first class nut job. I understand that she's lost her son. And maybe this is her way of dealing with the grief. But it's been so long, and I'm so sick of hearing her name in the news. She needs to move on with her life, and nothing she is doing right now is productive. She's lost all credibility with the American people (except for the fellow nut jobs).

Though I think she's a bit weird, I do indeed support her and wish her well. I do not believe in this war, and never have. We aren't fighting terrorists with this war at all, we're creating them.

Nope. Don't support her. Sympathize for her loss, but oppose her political views and her spin on the war.
