I'm a regular-sized gal* in my 40s. Wondering what your favorite clothing lines are that are stylish, not too young yet not matronly. (*I asked this previously and got Lane Bryant, which is for larger sized gals.)

For ideas, check out InStyle-they always have a section on trends and how to pull it off in your 20s,30s,40s, and 50s, without looking asinine.

To shop-Macy's is a great place to start.
They have INC-which is a little out there, but has some fun pieces.

Also they carry the Armani Woman gray label and Jones New York. That stuff is relatively well priced, well cut and detailed and stylish.

And they have their brand, Style and Co, that does some knockoffs and have a little bit of variety that is cheaper.(FYI Dillard's is also a good place to scope if they are having a sale.)

Nordstom, Foley's, Dillard's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Anne Klien, Liz Claibourne (sp?), the list goes on and on. Those are all expensive stores though so I hope you have the money. Honey if you want to look good then you gotta spend the money! Clothes don't come cheap.

Talbot's, Ann Taylor, Contempo Casuals and Dress Barn are among my favorite stores - classic but current. At the department stores, you can't go wrong with Liz Claiborne or Anne Klein. Happy shopping!

Yes.... try these sites, they are very good.

JCpenney.com
Kohls.com
Target.com

You are in an in between phase where you have to be careful about looking too young, or too old. So you just have to shop around. Very carefully! =)
