Hampsters are not supposed to be bathed.

Hamsters don't need to be given a bath. They are very fastidious little creatures and groom themselves thoroughly every day. Just make sure that you keep the cage clean. Change the bedding at least once a week and use a gentle cleanser (make sure it's rinsed and dry before putting new bedding in it). Also, don't use pine or cedar shavings. They have oils that can cause respiratory and skin problems.

You shouldn't give him a bath, hamsters lick themselves clean every day. It's probably the cage that smells.

no that is something you should never do. try wipeing your hamster with a damp cloth because if you give it a bath it is very likely that the hamster will catch a cold and die.

well, he would only smell if you are not keeping his cage clean and pee and poop free. if he is romping around in urine soaked bedding and stauff then he will smell. i wouldn't give him a bath as this would be traumatic to little an animal. clean cage regularily
and if you must bath him then use large cotten balls socked in warm water and stroke them over his fur. do not soak him!
KEEP HIS CAGE CLEAN!!
