I think it is up to the individual who has them. Body piercings doesn't make the person who they are and if you can't except a person because they want to be a little different, then that is your problem. I have a few friends who have multiple body piercings, and although I don't think I would ever get any, I don't view them any differently than I did before. They are still the same people.

Oh God NO! The people that have piercings think they are "expressing their individuality" JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE who has body piercings.

Why folks think it's awesome to have metal sticking out of their eyebrows, lips, tongue, bellybutton, naughty bits, cheeks and nose is something I won't ever understand.

The good thing, unlike having a tattoo, is the piercing will close up if you (hopefully) change your mind. A tattoo is forever unless you have it removed (very painful procedure)

I have two piercings my self one in my navel and a tounge ring and I work for an office environment and well my navel one is not visible and my tounge ring well i wear containers during the week in the morning and they are clear so you cant view them. Then I put the regular tounge ring at night so it works out perfectly

But its all on where you put them and how you can maintain them discret depending as to where you are at or do.
