It's rather hard to answer this question without more information. Depending on where you live it may or may not be venomous. My guess is it is probably a garter snake, in which case it is harmless. Tiny snakes (especially small garter snakes) mostly subsist on bugs and whatnot... As to growth rate, unless you are dealing with an escaped large exotic species (which I doubt you are since even as babies they aren't what the average person would consider "tiny") you shouldn't need to worry about having to contend with a 5 foot snake any time soon. My advice for getting rid of it would be just to keep an eye out for it (it found its way in, it could very easily have found its way out again) and try to catch/release it if at all possible, but be sure you can first properly identify it if there are venomous snakes in your range. Extermination and/or Animal control is also an option of course, but hopefully that can be avoided so both your mother and the snake can continue their lives in peace:)

chances are it will leave the appartment on it's own if it can. There more than likely is not sufficiant food for it in there. If you want to catch it try turing the air up so its cold and look around the back of the refrigderator. It is more than likely just a garter, corn or rat snake but it could be a venomous so be carefull. Put on some heavy gloves and just grab it, if it is real tiny.

well do you have any idea what kind it might be if its some type of large snack like a boa it Will grow pretty fast and i hope she doesn't have any small pets and if its a guarder snake or a corn snake then it shouldn't get any bigger than 2 feet but the best way to get it out is to catch it

I'm not sure what you are asking. Sounds like you want to keep it for a pet. Wild snakes are best left alone because it takes an expert to ensure that the snake isn't poisonous. Many poisonous snakes look like non-poisonous and vice versa. Best to call Animal Control on this one.

I wouldn't mess with it at her age, call an exterminator. Otherwise get a cat.
