A gonzo sponge. It works wonders on a couch, carpet, slipcovers, clothing etc. I've been using the Gonzo products for about 10 years now. I used to vacuum and lint roll and it took to long. Now all I do is swipe the Gonzo sponge over the area covered with pet hair and then vacuum for crumbs and popcorn.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves - the kind you use for housework - and run your hands over the sofa. Hair should come away from the fabric easily. If you don't have rubber gloves, wrap tape around your hand and blot.

I read somewhere that you can use panty hose stretched over your hand. haven't tried it, since I'm not a big fan of pantyhose... I just use a lint roller. Works great. I'll use masking tape wrapped around my hand in a pinch. :)

I'd personally use one of those sticky lint-remover things. The brush fills too fast and doesn't work as well.

Vacuuming works.
I use what looks like a sponge but it specifically for pet hair.
You can find it in hardware stores.
