Do men want sex to fufill a physical need or does sex fufill an emotional need giving you confidence and the knowing that your desired by your wife?

It's both, for me, and I think for most men.

The physical aspect obviously gets the most press. A guy's sex drive is always regearing itself, so it peaks within a few days (or shorter) unless released somehow. Some guys channel that drive into other things (such as work), but in a healthy marriage it stays directed towards his wife.

Eventually, though, sex becomes repetitive (like eating), and the emotional component is more valued. I feel like my wife loves me and wants me when she is willing to have sex with me, and the act of having sex makes me feel closer to her.

That would be a basic generalization for both genders: Husbands generally need to have sex to feel closer to their wives, while wives need to feel close to their husbands in order to have sex.

(Again, just a generalization, but it gets the idea across.)

A guy's emotional commitment to his wife is affected (like it or not) by how willing she is to respond to his overtures. It's not any sort of excuse or justification for having sex; it's simply one of the dynamics involved.

Both.

Men have to feel desirable by their wife or else they will try to get attention from other women to prove to themseves that they still have it. This doesn't mean that they will always cheat. some do, but they're asses.
Men also have a physical need for sex too. without it they tend to become irritable and in some cases self concious.

i dont care what any guy says we need sex cause it makes us feel like our women acutally want us. women tend to need to hear that we still find them attractive while men need to be shown it.

hold out for too long and a man will stray not for the physical stimulation but for the feeling of actually being wanted by someone. the physical part is just a hell of a plus... and we use that as an excuse so we dont come off as being to emotional

It's a physical thing for men, for women it's more an emotion. But some women are DOGS and will sleep with anybody...I think when you are married it should be an expression of love and you are both desirable to one another.

Well, if you're talking about sex for married men, then neither. Depending on where you are in the marriage, usually leaving them the hell alone and shuttin up every once in a while is a physical and mental need for married men.

It fulfills both. You often hear women complaining about not feeling desired by their hubbies, well the same is true with men.
Most men cannot be emotional without sex and most women cannot be sexual without emotion.
And its a great physical release!

Men are simple creatures, we have few needs. If we're not horny, make us a sandwich. To answer your question, both. We have a physical need for sex and a need to know our woman still finds us desirable.

And ladies, remember, these are NEEDS, not wants. Men need sex to be happy. Like it or not, it's one of life's truths.

With my fiance, I think it's both. With other guys I have been with (especially my ex husband), I think it is a physical need. Most guys have sex/make love for the physical pleasure. Women typically do it for the emotional connection to their partner.

Both. But sex to a man is different than sex to a woman. Men can have sex and it mean nothing more than fun. Women are emotionally tied to their feelings. Sex is a deep feeling for women.
