I was looking at a book on tattoos about tattoos in the Russian Prison system.

Often they told a story of inmates there.

Church steeples told how long they were in prison for. very interesting.

Have you heard of the "Living Book".

It is a book that is written on people. One word from the book is tattooed on volunteers. Volunteers have no say on what word they get...have you heard about it?

Tattoos are so addicting. I got my first one in January and my second in April. I'm going to get another one in October. It feels like a cat is scratching you over and over again. I have two frogs. This may sound weird but part of the reason they are so addicting is the pain. At least it is for me.

Tattoos are addictive - I got my first (custom designed, just for me) in August 05. Well, it wasn't long before I got to thinking about another. so I got that in May 06. I have 3 more designs I want put on me - then I think I'll stop!! But I think it's the self-expression that I love about it more than anything else. My first one hurt like hell, I will freely admit, but I love that tattoo & I'm so glad I got it. It IS who I am. It's a gorgeous jack-o-lantern with vines & leaves swirling around it - very colorful. The tattoo artist worked my childrens' names into the vines & my kids are just so proud that they are in my tattoo!!! It was a break from the ordinary for me but I'm so glad I did it. Both of my tats are on my ankles - since I usually wear jeans I only show them off if I want to. The others will go in places not easily visible - they are just for me. I wonder if I can stop after I get my next 3 done? Great question, thanks for asking it!!!!! p.s. Yes I've heard about the Living Book - thought it was a very cool idea. Very Fahrenheit 451!!

I think addiction is not the right word, it is more a lifestyle for many people.
You see a difference in people who take a tattoo because of fashion reasons, they wil often regret it later on in their lifes. For the people who take a tattoo for a much deeper reason, the most will never regret it.

I have tattoos. Yes, it hurts. Sometimes a great deal. That goes with it. Some people even faint from it. Depends on what bodypart you take the tattoo. Some places hardly hurt, other places hurt like hell.

For me it is definately a lifestyle. I take tattoos because they stand for a part in my life, they stand for growth and strength. Each of them is very special and meaningfull to me, even in a spritual kind of way.
My last one symbolises marriage between me and my boyfriend (for 15 years). We are not interested in marriage for the law. This goes, for us, much deeper.

If you are thinking about one, think twice or even thrice about it! It is not something you can stop wearing. Removing tattoos is a even more painfull proces and if the tattoo is big enough it will never completely be removed.

I know that they definitely can become addicting. I am already at four tats right now...and only been getting them for the last two years. My wings are currently being enlarged for application come Fall 2006. As far as what I have....the Eye of Ra, the Egyptian ankh with Chinese kangi, a panther, and fire-water yin-yang. The panther was the one that hurt the most probably...it is right along my hip bone. The yin-yang is on my inner left arm, and that got sensitive the further inward it went, and towards the joint, too. But, it won't make me stop....I plan on getting a couple more and then stopping for a bit. :-)

Yeah, at least for me. I got a moon when I was 19, a shooting star when I was 20, 3 planets when I was 23, (all on my left upper arm) and when I was 30 I got a pink ribbon tattoo for my breast cancer on my right upper thigh with Survivor written in it, and Bright Hope written above it (I have two daughters, one's name means bright, the other's name means hope). Is there pain, yeah, but nothing I couldn't handle. I am going to get at least one more, an angel for the baby I miscarried almost 5 years ago. Addicting....hell yeah! But I love it!

They can be. I would get more if I had the money and time. It takes two weeks to heal all the way. You have to keep it moisturized the whole time during those two weeks. It doesn't hurt that bad. I have five.
Gothic Cross and the words 'Jesus is Lord' on my right upper arm. Big wings around a shield with banner that says 'American Made' with an Eagle above on my left upper arm. On my back I have 'Fortiter Et Recte' in Old English. It means 'with right and strength' in latin.

They arr addicting. I have 4 and I want another one. Getting a tattoo does hurt it just depends on where you get them as to how bad they hurt. But after word they feel kind of like a sunburn.

I dont have any tatoos but alot of my friends and family do and they seem to be very addicting, it depends on your pain threshold how much they hurt, but they do. i think that tattoos are stupid unless there is some kind of meaning behind them. i wouldnt want to make up my body for no reason, but tattoos on a guy are very sexy i must say!!!!

Yes they are addicting. I have one and really wanting to get another. It didn't really hurt and it is a four leaf clover with lucky written above it with my luck number in the top 2 leaves.

Tattoos do hurt, and if you ever get one you have to know that you are going to have it forever! Its not just something you have for a month and then it is gone, no! It is till the day you die!
