A picture paints a thousand words becuase the details of the artistry elicit feelings and emotions from the viewer. When looking at a wonderful piece of art try to explain what you feel, think, hear, taste, see and smell and you will understand why a picture paints a thousand words.

Because some people can see better than they can think. And, as funny as this may appear at first, tis a fact that people have a need for visual while others have a need for verbal and others have a need for written.
I respond (learn) best through the written word, although the venue does leave out body language, a necessity to fully understand the speaker. And then sometimes even miss.

It's "A picture is worth 1000 words" and it's because people interpret paintings in all different ways.....take a picture of a moment, and then try to describe the moment in words and see what happens....you have one picture and a story to go with it.

Pictures are great. Books are just an information medium. And they are also a good way to work your brain and imagination. Reading a book you have to imagine things which keeps your brain active, besides learing new things.
