You have to decide if you want your site to be for shopping or whether it is for businesses to advertise. You need to concentrate on just one if you are setting up the site to make money.

If it is for shopping, you must think of what product you want to offer to your customer. This becomes another whole job in itself. How will you provide the product? Is it needed by others? How will you convice the customer that yours is the best and gain their trust in making a purchase over the web.

If you want to market your site to have other advertisers place ads there, then you must be able to provide readers with informative content about a certain subject. Think of something that you enjoy. Something about which you could offer some interesting information. Then you will have readers who will be reading this and the advertising as well. This will encourage the advertisers to continue advertising.

Good luck!

Google can give you ads to put on YOUR site so you can make money from their advertising.
Google can display ads on THEIR site and other sites. You should contact Google for help with ads. (I happen to have a site with ads)
If your wondering where to start with a site, I will be adding that information to my own site.
First, you need an index page.
That page needs to have the main content of your site, features store items, and more.

if it involves money, you'll have to first pay for a hack blocking company so that no one can break in and take your money. I would trust paypal if ur gonna make a site where people can shop. Also, you'll need a working network or sumthin to sell stuff.

You have something to sell?

Don't build a website for the sake of building a website. You must have content.

For content, you can link & passthrough to Amazon.com, eBay and Yahoo shopping.
