All other species of life either evolved into a new form or dies out (extinction). For humans there is no exception. We are so dependent on our technology now, that if a mega-disaster were to wipe it out, we would quickly perish (that is if we do not kill each other first). That is humanity's destiny, just as it is with all other life.

Well, there's a theory out there now, (and has been for a long time), that the world will end in the year 2012... and this is according to the hieroglyphs from within the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids, temples and tombs.
If you just type in "2012" in any of the search engines, you'll be overwhelmed with information about it. There are several books on the subject too!
Seems as though the earth is going to reverse it's polarity and reverse it's rotational direction, all in a matter of hours or even a couple of days. Since the earth rotates at approximately 1,000 miles per hour, you can imagine the destruction from earthquakes, tidal waves and volcanoes! Entire continents will be resculpted from mile-high tidal waves alone, (traveling at anywhere from 600 to 1,000 miles per hour!), let alone all the other disasters! They say that there is no escape unless you're prepared, (although I don't know how one can possibly be prepared for such an event?). It's said that Atlantis went through this and the remaining people were what became known as the Egyptians, Mayans, etc., and that these people left information and clues to when it will happen again, (which, supposedly, is every 12,000 years, and is triggered by phenomenal solar flares).
Interesting reading anyway!

Here is how it will go
1. Enviornmental Problem: with Ozone layer diminishing and increase in temprature. Soon there will be a time when the growth will stop. though this has already begun -- such as extinction of certain animals and plant species.
2. Health Problem: Bcose of the atmosphere human beings will develop various kinds of problems esp related to breathing... which they ll down the line turn to masks ... but dont know how long they survive... Some of the new diseases will come over such as AIDS etc which r deadly ... i think there will be worst than this
3. Earth quakes: With the increase number of earth quakes and natural calamities human race will suffer huge losses.
4. Death Death Death...
Gradually the reproduction will decrease and then there ll be a point when it ll be the end. U ll never know when it happens...

It would seem that there have been other cycles of humans on Earth before our current race. They seem to reach a certain level of attainment, then they either kill themselves or Nature in the form of comets or other natural disasters removes them from the Earth. There is always a few who seem to make it through and the cycle begins again. We are now at the end of a 26000 year cycle and unfortunately, the consciousness of the human race has dropped to a new level. Look at the education and thinking processes that are going on in the world today. Have we as a race really progressed in our thinking and appreciation of what we have? No! Give me more is the mantra of today: Drugs, Money and anyother thing that is perverted and twisted. Listen to the music! Read the Lyrics and quite a bit of it is terrible! When ever things reach a boiling point, then it is removed, much like steam from water! In the nextn 5 years, Earth will cross Galactic Center and in the precessional towards the center we will pass through an energy belt called the photon belt. The human body produces photons through DNA and Cells. As we get closer to this belt, either people will wake up and change and maybe they will get crazier than they are now. There have always been humanoid form of life on Earth and now it is graduation time for this current race! Sink or Swim! If the consciousness of people rises high enough, the greed will stop and wars will stop and sharing with our neighbor will take place. There is no more caring for your neighbor to any great extent anymore! In the workplace, it is always "What's in it for me"! WIFM. Brotherhood and peace requires unconditional love and caring, so sadly lacking in our global community. Each person contributes to this community and is responsible for their thoughts, actions and deeds. If we cannot rise to the occasion, I see natural events take this Human Race and bring an end to it, throwing us back into the Stone Age once more to evolve upward, one more time

I cannot foresee an end to the human species. We are within 30 years of having self sustaining colonies on the moon or elsewhere, so even if the Earth burped and life was gone overnight, there'd still be some of us left. Other than hostile aliens wiping us out, I think we're good to go for the long haul.

I dont believe the there can be an end to human beings. The reason why is because we are considered eternal beings, we tend to procreate in our lifes, making our kind eternal.

Maybe you need to define "destiny". Usually i think of destiny as being more like a goal, but you seem to be using it to mean "duration".

i think that the human race will destroy itself because it's in our nature to do things without thinking about the consequences, especially when it comes to violence
