I can't tell you about 40s 50s 60s or much of the 70s. I was born in 1970. I do remember that we wore lots of halter tops and polyeister. The 80s we did the big hair styles and preppy clothes. I kinda liked the 80s and 90s best as far a fashion goes. I can also tell by some old pictures that the style of clothing is trying to come back in today. I bet if you were to ask your parents they probably have some old photos of those times that you are wanting to know about.

I believe these were the terms used for each decade. The Romantic '30s, The Fashionable '40s, The Revolutionary '60s, The Experimental '70s, The Awesome '80s.

The 40's was all about WW2. The 50's was the rock and roll and superman era. The 60's was the age of youth and change...they wanted education. The 70's of course was hippies and drugs and disco, and the 80's was all about loving yourself and heavy rock.

well I was born in 1960, I smoked marijuana for the first time in 77. Disco was well and truly alive then, the clothing was awful, you only need to watch some of the old sitcoms to see what we looked like.. As for the 60´s and 70´s, it was fun, no one in my school got pregnant, it was unheard of. Some people smoked pot, but not until they were 17 or 18 as I was. Growing up in the 60s was great.. it was a kindler gentler time.
