O.K.
The right way to use a tampon.
*always use the lowest absorbency tampon to meet your needs.
*cange your tampon every 4-8 hours.
*tampons can be worn over night for up to 8 hours.
*Be sure to remove the last tampon at the end of your peoriod.
Use tampons only durring menstration.

What you should know about Toxic shock syndrome(tss)
TSS is rare but serious and sometimes fatal disease associted with tampon use.About half of the cases occure in women who use tampons the other is in men and children.TSS is treatable, but earlt recognition and treatment are important.

What are the warning signs?
Sudden high fever(usually 102 or higher)
vomiting
diarrhea
sunburn-like rash
dizziness
muscle aches
fainting/ or near fainting when standing up
TSS can rappidly progress from flu like symtoms to a serious illness that can be fatal. If you have 1 or more signs of TSS remove your tampon immediatly and call your Dr. and tell him/her that you have been useing tampons and what your symtoms are.Studies show that the higer the absorbency of the tampons the greater the risk of TSS.I hope that helps be careful please also go to www.beinggirl.com for free samples and great info.

If your always supposed to wear the light ones why do they have heavy ones. Of course you can use them, ive been using the super ones for a long time and i have never gotten sick from that tss. Toxic shock syndrom, i think they give the symptons on the back of the tampon box.

You should use the lowest absorbancy needed to manage your flow. TSS is caused by bacteria, I believe. Read the package insert - it will give you some information. If you are still confused after that, speak with your gyno.

A tampon wouldn't really soak up discharge very well. Rather, it would just keep it stuck inside of you, which isn't good for your health. Discharge is called discharge for a reason. It needs to be discharged from your body, not held there by a tampon. Just get a larger, heavy-days pad.

It increases the risk of getting it, but TSS is rare.
