I lived there for most of my life.

The city is so small and has so much crime.

It hurts to see the city like this!!!!!!!

Yes, I used to drive a truck long-distance, and had heard to watch out if I ever went to Trenton, or Camden,NJ.. I actually got lost and ended up in there briefly, coming out of Philly and taking a few wrong turns. I kept my doors locked and made sure I left enough room between me and the cars in front of me to get around them if I had to. I'm really sorry that the city you are in has so much crime and lack of safety. You know it takes people with a position of power, and the will to do it to change anything. You can bet big money if the governor James McGreevey's momma lived there, he'd probably have took some steps to change things. There are things anyone could do on a small level to try to make a change, but it takes involving people on a larger level to make a BIG difference. If you want to fight to make your city a better place, realize it takes dedication, and the more hands you can get involved the better. Have a great day!!

Camden, NJ reminds me much of East St. Louis, IL. Both cities are just east and across the river from major metropolitan areas, yet both are plagued with an unusally high jobless rate, and therefore a higher crime rate than would be typical.

I remember the good ol' days when Campbell's Soup had its major operations in Camden, NJ. And there's the New Jersey Aquarium. I think that ultimately, Camden can come back...but it's going to need some economic spurring. And that's something that can't begin until your governor and your legislature stop their pi$$ing contest and get the government back to work.

Good luck with that.

I spent four days there at RCA training back in the 80's.....we could not even walk more than a block to a restuarant or store! Too dangerous. It looked like bombed out Dresden after WWII. A dreadful place.....and I heard it has not changed much since then.

I've been to Jersey City, which is horrible!!! Hard to imagine a worst place. Go to school, get wise, and grow up to make changes, young man. You have the pain and the years of seeing the hardship to make it change. Never forget where you came from and never lose your love for it.

Sure, I saw the top ten list also - kinda scary.

I have not been in the city itself, just right outside it. Stay safe!
