I am a junior in high school (this fall) and a 7th in my class of 250. got a 22 on my pre-ACT's last October. I want to be a pediatric oncologist when I get older. I live in Michigan.

Also do I go to a 4 year university, then medical school? Or is it one straight shot through?

I would preferrably like to stay in Michigan, but it doesnt matter.

By the way, my estimated composite score for the real ACTs is 27 through 30.

You are in good shape to go to University of Michigan. It is by far the best academic school in Michigan - even in the entire midwest. However, the pre-med curriculum at Michigan is intensely competitive so you need to buckle down on your studies immediately.

Certain schools offer a 7-year undergrad/med school program, but Michigan does not. You will have to graduate from undergrad and then apply to medical school. Don't forget, Michigan also has one of the nation's best medical programs.

I would recommend U of M or Michigan State. They are the biggest universities in Michigan, to be sure, and have medical schools as well. It's always easier to be accepted to a professional school if you are able to create working relationships with faculty in your school of choice as an undergraduate. You could do it as a straight shot, or you could take a year off between degrees to get some work experience. The latter would make you a stronger candidate for med school--you could get research experience or work with/for a doctor in your area.

Alternatively, Michigan has some fine smaller colleges, such as Albion or Adrian Colleges, where you could study biology and then apply to the larger universities' medical schools.
