it totally depends on where they are. My baby just dropped, and I have been having menstrual-like cramps because of that. It could also be contractions, nerve pain, round ligament pain, pain because of the baby's position, muscle pain, the list goes on.

Call your dr if the pain lasts in 30-60 second increments and are spaced 7-15 minutes apart. Those are probably contractions.

It could be Braxton Hicks (false contractions) your body is preparing for the birthing process. The baby is getting heavier and putting a lot of strain on your back and stomache muscles. If the pain gets intense or if your water breaks go to the Hospital, it be time to meet your new baby!!

If the pains are in your stomach like the muscles are tightening - making your stomach hard as rocks - they are Braxton Hicks (very mild contractions). You are getting ready for labor. Make sure to let your doctor know that you are having them and how painful they really are. You body is getting ready and soon you will have a baby in your arms and your waist back!

If the pains have just started and are getting more intense and regular, then you are in labor dear. If you have had pains throughout your whole pregnancy, then I don't know. Ask your doctor.
