No, you arent breaking any laws. And you can take out as much in student loans are you are allowed, as long as you pay them back. You're safe.

No, I dont think they would send you to prison. You'll likely get kicked out if there is some criminal reason you are not attending the other university though. The advantage of having the school know about previous schools is that they are willing to help you out with any education problems you may have had, and any credits that you earned will be transferred over.
I don't think the school will be able to see your previous financial aid either, but if you are applying for loans the lenders will see your credit history and may deny you if you have a bad history. The government also can see the grants that you had received from them, and may deny you that also.

Being federal funding, financial aid will eventually show up wherever you go. Additionally, when you apply for it, it will have all of your records from the past. (If you did happen to get away with it - you would eventually get caught).

The only way you MIGHT get away with starting over, would be to go to a community college and PAY for a few classes each semester--and NOT apply for financial aid again until you have caught up to the grade level you are supposed to be at. If you have lived in your state for at least 6 months, the community colleges only charge about 150 for a 3-credit class.

No, you cannot go to prison for that. I am unsure as to the Financial Aid, but I assume it would only show up if it is a program that you tell them about and/or they use the same system. But why would you not tell them? If you are doing anything that might be deceitful about financial aid you might wanna worry about charges of fraud or something. Ask a Lawyer!

You will not go to prison for not listing another college and starting over, but you could face fraud charges for not listing previous financial aid transactions. If you apply for financial aid, you have to specify if you have ever applied for financial aid before. The financial aid companies will do a search on your financial records.

you won't go to prison many people start over but why would you want to? If you let them know about your other school you won't have to take all the basic classes over. Don't know about financial aid though.

probably not prison...why wouldn't you be up front with the new college? This type of thing happens all the time

You can be expelled. You can be sued for fraud. You can be sued to repay money that you've received. You can have all grades that you earned at the new school reversed.
