I don't believe it is MEDLEY. It was in a crossword puzzle I got online the other day, and I'm still baffled.

It could be called a compilation, I'm not sure if an "official" name for that even exists. Maybe even remix, I don't know.

It is medley. A song that has content from different sources (usually) is a medley. You might be thinking "melody", and that is what's throwing you off.

I've heard it called a medley and other times a montage of songs.

It's called a sample, or a rip-off, depending on your point of view. But yes, it's called a sample.
